No more Axim Handhelds on Dell’s shelf

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007 | Gizmo News with No Comments »

 Axim handhelds axed by Dell

Almost 3-4 months back, Mobility Site declared that Axim handhelds are going away and its 2 days back only the Dell Axim’s disappeared from Dell’s website.

Having axed the Axim line of PDAs, Dell has no plans to expand its devices. Quick shutterbugs at Dell’s website clearly indicate that the Axim X51 line of devices is no longer available for purchase. This is a like a black-cloud fallen on a 2-year old device.

“The Axim X51 family is no longer being offered, and we have no plans for a follow-on product at this time,” Dell spokeswoman Anne Camden said in an e-mail. Company will continue to sell handhelds from other makers on its Web site, including GPS devices and smart phones.

Do you think things would have been different if the Axim X51 had taken the smartphone route?
