NEC has lately developed software that includes a voice-recognition system and translation functions, adequately compressed to operate on a minute microprocessor equipped in a cell phone. The company takes the honor in producing the mechanical translation software on a cell phone for the first time without any outside help. The software can identify around 50,000 Japanese words and is designed for even paraphrase of tour idioms like “Can I have a subway route map?” Also, it is probable to turn the English translation verbal but NEC is presently not concentrating over that.
